The power of resiliency & perseverance: A conversation with Russell Vann

Russell was born in the South Bronx in the late sixties to a drug-addicted mother and an absent father. Russell was raised by his great-grandmother and faced life-or-death situations daily.  Not only has Russell had to work to overcome his own spectors, but also those that his daily environment provided to him. Russell is the author of a series of books titled Ghetto Bastard. The books served as a form of therapy and led to Russell’s realization that all of the people around him and throughout his life had been dealing with their own misfortunes. It is through his writings that Russell works to convey the message that no matter your current situation, it does not define your final destination. Developing a sense of belonging: A conversation with Michelle Markman

After feeling lost and without a community. Michelle realized in her early 30s that she might have a disability. Five years after receiving an autism diagnosis, Michelle started to find similar experiences with other late-diagnosed autistic individuals, especially females, and in her words, stepped into the “creative, quirky creature” that she is and began to cultivate real, authentic relationships with people who accepted her for who she truly is. Today, Michelle works with other late-diagnosed autistic adults to spread the empathy and understanding she has gained along her journey in order to help others live a life full of purpose and love. It is Michelle’s mission to help neurodiverse individuals create a life they love, appreciate, and are excited to celebrate each day.  Website: http://www.michellemarkman.com [http://www.michellemarkman.com] Social Media Handle: @MNMGuide DISCLAIMER: Although podcast episodes are not explicit in nature, some episodes may contain occasional foul language and/or intense subject material.
