The NigelGJ Show
This week on the Inspirational Fitness Show, I am in conversation with Mimi Anderson. Mimi is one of the world’s most inspirational distance runners, having made an incredible journey from stay-at-home mum of three to multiple Guinness World Record Holder. The list of achievements that Mimi has accomplished is endless but here is a taste of some of the incredible races and running challenges that she has completed. 353 miles non stop across the Arctic for the 6633 ultra where she was the overall winner and course record holder. She ran the gruelling distance from John O’Groats to Lands End – 840 miles across Britain which she completed in a Guiness World Record time of 12 days 15 hours and 46 mins. Double Comrades in South Africa Namibian Desert Challenge where she was the overall winner of the 220km race Double Badwater – 292 miles across the most extreme heat and altitude The Spartathlon – 153 miles from Athens to Sparta – also achieving the double by running the return leg 345 miles from the North to the South of the island of Ireland And of course the toughest footrace in the world the Marathon des Sables which she entered just one year after she decided to take up running. Not content with these races she has also organised her own adventures including 300 odd miles from Paris to London, 1,223 miles across South Africa, and an epic run to attempt to break the female world record to run across America a distance of 2,852 miles. This challenge was brought to an abrupt end due to an injury after running and incredible 2, 217.2 miles in 40 days, on track to smash the record. Mimi sets the standard for resilience, drive, determination and a desire to overcome adversity and aim to massively over achieve.
