We want to make sure he understands what is happening. We want to know what he is seeing as a teenager and how it is affecting him. We have to make sure he knows there is nothing wrong with him because he is black.

Having a spouse who not only knows how the world sees and treats you but also understands because they live it too, helps build another lever of connection.
