Talking to Jesus like a friend

This month we celebrated 1 YEAR since starting the podcast, and I just want to say that I am so thankful for all of you who have listened to this podcast and have read the Bible with me. This has been such an incredible year of podcasting, and I am so grateful for everything God has done here. I wanted to let you know that I am going to take a little summer break in June to rest, refocus on some things, and prepare for the next season ahead. When I come back, I am really excited to start a new Bible study series on the book of John, and I want to do more spotlight episodes on persecuted Christians around the world. I am so grateful for the number of listeners from around the world who have tuned into these episodes, including listeners (fellow brothers and sisters) in persecuted areas. I want to bring attention to these areas and have us pray for them. This is something really important to me that I want to share more of. As doing Bible studies and these spotlight episodes takes longer for me to research and prepare for, I will also be taking this break to take the time to study and get these episodes ready for season 2. Which I am so excited for! +++ We all struggle with something. We all have burdens we carry. Ultimately we have to look to Jesus and give him our burdens and the weights that are too heavy for us to carry. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” We can go to God with what is heavy on our hearts. We can give our sorrows, struggles, and burdens to him. You don’t have to carry this weight on your own. In sharing this I don’t want to present myself as this christian who is perfect and who never struggles and has everything together. I don’t. I am struggling. This is me being honest with you. Maybe there is someone who is going to listen to this episode and they see themself reflected in what I have to say. Maybe there is someone struggling on the other side and it is encouraging to hear that they are not alone. You are not alone. We all struggle. It is a part of human life and maybe that is why I have been doing episodes on the book of Job lately. It is because I have been struggling and it can be helpful seeing that you are not alone. The end of a season and the beginning of another And so this is the season I find myself in. I am struggling but also hopeful. God has a plan. I know He does. And I know His plans are for good. But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” —1 Corinthians 2:9 So I am holding onto this promise. I am holding onto the goodness of God and I am going to remind myself to trust in Him. While I want to keep running I think right now I need to take some time to rest and just be with my creator. This is also the perfect time to break heading into season 2. + Were you blessed by today's episode? The Bible tells one complete story + why it is so important to read the WHOLE BIBLE

Ep.44 Hello there and welcome to The Other World Podcast! Just this last month, I finished reading through the Bible in a year! As Christians, I think that it is so important that we are reading the Bible and knowing God’s word. Reading the Bible is so important because this is God’s word. This is the book that God made for us and protected and preserved for us. This book holds the words of eternal life and salvation. Through this book we can know God and His heart. If you are a Christian, then you believe that this book is true, that the stories are true, the miracles are true, and ultimately that the testimony of Jesus that leads to salvation and eternal life is true. We should know the Bible. We should be reading God’s word every day. I believe that if you read the Bible every day, it will change your life. I know this because I see this in my own life. I know God has changed my life. Jesus has saved my life. That is in large part due to the Bible and the Holy Spirit’s guidance. I can tell the difference in myself when I am reading the Bible in the morning and when I am not. I cannot miss a day reading the Bible because, otherwise, I am a mess. Truly. I first noticed this in high school: how not reading the Bible would affect my moods for the worse and how being in God’s word would stabilize me and make me better. So every morning without fail, I read the Bible. Because if I don’t, I feel the lack. So I also encourage you to read the Bible every day! This book is amazing and will change your life! I hope you will take my word on it. So grab a cup of coffee or tea and let’s chat about reading the Bible! + Were you blessed by today's episode? My top TIPS on reading the Book of Job with clarity and how faith leads to righteousness

Ep.43 In the last episode we talked about the book of Job, specifically addressing the arguments people have against the book of Job and why I believe Job was a real man, including reading from multiple places in scripture. Proving the Bible is real by reading the Bible. If the Bible is the ultimate source of truth (which is what I believe), then I want to measure things to it. I recommend listening to that episode if you’ve ever struggled with reading the book of Job, have doubts, or have ever wondered why good people suffer, which is the core problem and theme of this particular book. I want to share with you my TOP tips on reading the Book of Job with clarity (or at least I hope this will give you some clarity). It can be confusing at times with all the different options about God within this book. I’ve read this book multiple times, most recently last week. I want to share what helped me in reading this book, and hopefully it will help you as well! So grab a cup of coffee or tea, a notebook, and your Bible, and let’s read the word of God together! + Were you blessed by today's episode? Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people? Is the book of Job real? Let’s talk about it

At the end of our study in the book of James, a man named Job from the Old Testament was mentioned. Job is honestly one of my favorite books in the Bible. It is such a cool story, tragic, yes, which we will talk about in a moment, but amazing. Maybe it is the storyteller in me that makes these books in the Old Testament come to life in my mind. There are romances, betrayal, prophecy when people can see the future, God speaking, dragons (or at least the leviathan, who is a scaly beast that breathes fire like a dragon), battles, warring kingdoms, noblemen & women, evil queens & kings, fire falling from heaven, songs, love ballads, and the story of creation and the fall of man. The Bible is amazing and exciting! It is not boring at all. I have heard people say that it is, but I honestly don’t see how you can read these stories and think it’s boring. How can you read the story when Elijah calls down fire from heaven and asks the false prophets if their gods are using the bathroom or sleeping? Like that’s funny and awesome. You can read that story in 1 Kings 18. I just want to point out that the Bible is awesome! The Bible is also a true book. God’s words that will not pass away. Matthew 24:35 says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” The Bible is trustworthy because God is trustworthy and does not lie. Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said it, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” One of these true stories is the book of Job. The book of Job tells the story of a man named Job who feared God. He was a righteous man and good father who loved his children and prayed every morning for their sins to be forgiven. Then the adversary, Satan, asked to hurt Job to prove to God that Job would walk away if everything was taken from Him. So Job was put through tests and lost everything: his children, his animals, his wealth, his reputation, his health, his sleep, and his wife, who was angry with him. His friends accused him (which is the bulk of the bulk of the book, being the conversations and opinions of his friends, which are not all true statements but are the opinions of man). This now takes us to why I am making this episode. I want to point out a view a lot of people, even Christians, will argue about. Many people do not believe the book of Job or the man named Job is real. Many believe this is a fictional story, and there are three main reasons why people don’t believe in Job that I’m going to address today. I believe the Bible to be the TRUTH. I also believe that Job is a real man and that the book of Job is a real story. I want to share why I believe this to be true by doing a little deep dive into the book of Job and answering this question: is the book of job real and if so why don’t people believe in it? So grab a cup of coffee or tea and your bibles and let’s begin this discussion. In this episode we will discuss: * Argument one: “Job is written as poetry indicating a literary fictional masterpiece but not a real historical tale” vs poetry does not mean a story is fictional * Does the Bible confirm the existence of Job in other books or passages in the Bible? With examples from James and Ezekiel. * Argument two: “It’s too fantastical to be real” vs believing in an all powerful all mighty God of miracles * Argument three: “Why would God allow Job—a righteous man who did nothing wrong—suffer?” * The problem of sin and our need for a savior + Were you blessed by today's episode?
