Some Linen Cloths and a Shroud?

Two men, formerly secret disciples of Jesus but certainly no more, are at work on a dark and dreary Friday afternoon, frantically trying to wrap the body of Jesus according to Jewish burial customs by sundown. Not finished, but as best as they can be for the moment, they and some of the women form a pauper’s funeral procession at best, leading to the borrowed tomb. They laid the body of the Savior on a stone slab, barely beating the nightfall. Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus: hidden heroes, in a sense. Awed by the Spirit of Revival

It’s been said, you have to be “vived” before you can be revived, meaning revival is for those believers who need a shot in their spirit to serve Jesus with a little more passion and fire. Awakening is said to be for those who do not yet believe but are now “awakened” to the reality of a very real and very good God. The Day of Crucifixion

A Night of Pits and Prisons

But there is one place that may not garner as much attention as the rest, but may be one of the most somber and impactful of all. It is the prison pit where Jesus spent His last night on earth. In fact, we are confident that Jesus actually spent most of that last night in four different prisons before finally going to the cross. Glory Falls on Gethsemane

Oh, the confidence of our Lord on the night of His arrest! From how He prayed for the Father’s will while the disciples slept to how He stepped out from behind an olive tree to meet His accusers, who were 600 strong. But the greatest show of confidence was the blast of glory that fell upon that hillside. So powerful that it blew the armies back – and even laid them out on the ground momentarily. Make no mistake: before He surrendered into the hands of mortal men, Jesus showed them God’s hand and declared exactly who was in charge of the night!
