Descripción

In honor of International Women’s Day, we are celebrating with Anna Sagatov, a filmmaker interested in the intersection between art and science. Check out her short film, Bar Flies [https://www.indieboomff.com/barflies.html], about a neuroscientist who starts behaving increasingly like the fruit flies she studies - based on a real scientific study! On this episode, we talk with Anna about being taken seriously as an artist, navigating the male-dominated science and film industries, making mistakes on set, and the alcohol consumption of fruit flies. “If you’re interested in something and you know the process of making a film, you can learn about whatever you want.” - Anna Sagatov  Find Anna on Instagram at @ASagatov [https://www.instagram.com/asagatov/] and connect with Kay at @K.ossWrites [https://www.instagram.com/k.osswrites/] and @EmbraceZeKayoss [https://twitter.com/EmbraceZeKayoss] on Twitter A very special thanks to every one of you who supports this podcast through Patreon and Paypal. Success, Advice, and Single-Use Products

Joining us today is a pre-professional and high school senior, Matthew York, from Woodbridge, Virginia. We also have two mentors today - Carol Stoil, retired computer specialist and federal employee, an expert in online and adult education, and an education consultant. And Dr. Michael Stoil, a retired consultant and a current tenured professor of Political Science at George Washington University. Before we begin, please keep in mind the following episode is our proof of concept episode which was recorded in October of 2019, before the COVID-19 quarantine and the Black Lives Matter protests. Disclaimer:  Also, just a heads up, these are teens and adults having adult conversations, so there is the possibility of adult language. The Pre-Pro Podcast’s theme music is used with permission by the band Slidecamp – Check out Realmsweeper and other great tracks on the Slidecamp album.  A great big thank you to the fine people at Bias Studios in Springfield, Virginia for recording today’s episode. If you’re in the DC area and need a professional recording studio, don’t hesitate to reach out to them – biasstudios.com [https://www.biasstudios.com].
