Descripción

As a “recently initiated” member of the Lex community– a self-proclaimed “text-based app that connects queer lovers and friends'' in the hopes of promoting queer dialogues of all kinds– I’ve been closely following what Lex members post on the platform. Daily posts include “missed connections'' (a unique way to try to find that one person in a gay club you were, regretfully, too afraid to approach), invitations to queer book clubs, inquiries onto any upcoming queer events happening in the city, or– my favorite– honest confessions of craving queer company. This podcast will hold a series of ethereal, loose, and artistic episodes capturing these member posts in an audio format. Lex users based in NYC would start off their interviews reading from some of their own posts, as well as those of others that have most resonated with them. Then, I’d proceed to initiate a conversation on how, although spaces and places have been increasingly “queered” in recent years, it’s still tough to find long-lasting LGBTQ+ companionship/resources in urban environments. Specific topics I hope to touch on are online dating for queer people, services for trans individuals in NYC (or lack thereof), the challenges and joys of polyamory, and many others that I have seen prominently on Lex’s interface. Ultimately, I hope the podcast gives people of the LGBTQ+ community a sense of comfort and identification with things shared by my guests.
