The Rancho Cordova Podcast
With the Fourth of July just around the corner, one issue is once again front and center: fireworks. While many of us enjoy celebrating Independence Day with family and friends, fireworks also bring significant concerns about public safety, wildfire risk, impacts on veterans, pets, seniors, and neighborhoods throughout our city. This year, the City of Rancho Cordova has adopted some of the toughest firework regulations in the region. Under the updated ordinance, fines are no longer issued per incident—they can now be issued for every individual illegal firework or unauthorized use of "Safe and Sane" fireworks. That means violations can quickly become very costly. Today, we're joined by Russell Ducharme, Director of Neighborhood Services for the City of Rancho Cordova. Russ oversees many of the city's efforts to protect neighborhoods and improve quality of life, and he'll help us understand exactly what these new regulations mean for residents. We'll discuss what's changed, what qualifies as legal and illegal fireworks, how the new social host liability ordinance works, how enforcement will take place over the holiday, how residents can report violations, and most importantly, how we can all celebrate safely while protecting our community.
