48: Are People Who Take Suboxone “Clean” or in Recovery?

In this episode I share my thoughts about what I feel the considerations are when people ask what is “clean” in recovery. These are my personal views and should not be taken as ultimate truths. There are many things to consider when asking this question, and my hope is to present these views in a way that challenge people to look a bit closer at the behaviors surrounding their actions more than the ingestion of a substance. Different programs will define what is sober or clean in different ways, and it’s important to respect the program you attend IF you intend to receive acknowledgement from that program. Specifically I mean something like AA or NA. When it comes to Suboxone, methadone, medical marijuana or even prescribed medications like Xanax or Morphine even, there are ways to medically follow a doctor’s guidelines and still live in alignment with recovery principles. Just as there are ways to live deep within the grips of our addiction’s disease while abstinent from all substances. Join me on this conversation, and please share your thoughts on this episode.
