Descripción

Todays conversation was an absolute pleasure. Ruth Rathblott was born with a limb difference which gives her limited use of her left hand. Due to the fear of how she would be excepted, she hid her hand from the world for twenty-five years.  Today Ruth is a motivational speaker, a writer, and an advocate for those who are different and unique. Find out how Ruth overcame her fears and has had the privilege of traveling, speaking, and educating people about limb uniqueness. If you or someone you know could benefit from this episode, I highly recommend you listen until the end and share it with at least one person in your life.  Ruth's Website: https://ruthrathblott.com Lucky Fin Project: https://luckyfinproject.org

35. Hope Through Tragedy on the Pacific Crest Trail - Doug Laher

A special thank you to Doug Laher for being willing to share this story with us and others to help create a conversation around hiker safety and the use of risk mitigation skills when enjoying the great outdoors. This episode is very close to my heart as the Pacific Crest Trail was a major part of making me who I am today. This story is of a tragic accident that took place on the Pacific Crest Trail in 2020. For those who follow information from the trail on a regular basis, you may very well remember the young man who fell to his death that year in late March. With all the access to incredible wilderness areas through trail systems, it has never been a better time to be a lover of the great outdoors. But with that being said, the wilderness is still rugged and dangerous. Even the most skilled hikers, backpackers, and mountaineers of the world are taking a risk when entering the wild mountainous regions of the world. Today’s story is a tragic cautionary tale, but it’s also a story of a man who is using this tragedy as a way to bring awareness to the dangers of the wilderness, and hopefully, through his story, can help you or someone you love enjoy the incredible world that has been given to us, safely. 33. Serving the Untouchables of India - Srujana Moparthi

Ok, first of all, I just want to say that for those who don't know, I have a strong love for the country of India. I have been to India five times and collectively for about ten months. So when I heard about today's guest, I just knew I had to have her on the show. Srujana Moparthi is the definition of an empowered woman in India, and her heart is with the lepers of India. For those living in the western world, it is likely that when the word leprosy is brought to one's attention, at the most, one might think about stories from the Bible. Leprosy is one of the oldest diseases known to man. Despite advances in technology, leprosy continues to be a public health challenge in countries around the world, such as India. Two hundred thousand cases of leprosy are diagnosed every year around the world, with the USA only seeing about 250 of those cases. I hope you are a fan of Srujana like I am. So do me a favor and check out their organization's website, and if you have a desire to reach out to Srujana personally, you can email her as well. www.cministries.net srujanabharathim@gmail.com
