Descripción

We add our FIRST entry to the Crowded Classics. Sure, the shelf has legendary, vital films like Casablanca, Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, and so on. But every now and then, we discover a movie that deserves the same recognition and space on that crowded shelf. For our first entry, Chicago Film Critics Association board member Erik Childress joins us again to talk about 1992's Sneakers. Whether it's the cast (Matt's personal favorite), James Horner's score, or the overall entertaining nature, this film was Matt's gateway to the late, great Sidney Poitier, whose legacy carries an important point of this podcast during the conversation. This episode is in tribute to his groundbreaking trail of work. - ALL MUSIC AND SOUND CLIPS ARE COPYRIGHT UNIVERSAL PICTURES. Episode 6: Dann Gire on 'Fletch'

Chicago Daily Herald film critic and former Chicago Film Critics Association President Dann Gire joins us to discuss 1985's Fletch, directed by Michael Ritchie and starting Cherry Chase. We debate the quality of the film, with Dann also providing commentary based on his vast experience as a studious journalist to comment on the workings of the film's integrity of keeping things accurate (or not) on the goings of a newsroom. Plus, we get to talk a little about the new incarnation of the character in Confess, Fletch, starting Jon Hamm! - ALL MUSIC IS COPYRIGHT UNIVERSAL PICTURES.
