Dangerous Females @dangerousfemales
This podcast was recorded in the early evening on Wednesday 19th Feb, the same day that Hannah Clarke and her three beautiful children were murdered, in the most horrific way imaginable. At the time we met, recorded and danced we were oblivious to this news. We were excited to have our fundraising Trivia nights in planning and our next Limited Edition tees about to be photographed. We’d just passed on over $18,000 to our charity for the second half of 2019 and received the most beautiful message from a follower, who was a DV survivor, telling us what a source of empowerment DF had been to her. We were excited and hopeful, and in reflecting on our journey to this point, we were extremely proud. On the drive home together after recording our collective breath was taken away as we heard the news of Hannah and her babies. Our hearts broke as we googled for more information and read not just the details of how horrifically violent this murder was, but stupid headline after stupid headline focussing on her ex-husband’s football career and profile. In the days following we’ve felt inconsolable sadness as mothers, and as women, such disappointment at the failures of our systems to protect victims of DV and raging anger at the man who did this. We discussed at length whether we should proceed with issuing this podcast and worried about every and any way that it could be negatively perceived. But, in the end we came back to the fact that Hannah’s case is precisely why we do what we do, and that we need to think positively to hope that DV statistics will diminish.
