Descripción

Today I'm sharing one of my all time favorite parenting hacks that builds connection and love with your child - so easily! You just incorporate it into your bedroom routine and use it as a way to highlight all of their goodness. You'll find it brightens your attitude, love, and appreciation for them too!   If your child is speech delayed or in speech therapy, then they probably receive lots of corrections or have struggles throughout the day. This parenting strategy is a great way to encourage them in a meaningful way. I encourage everyone to give it a try, even if it seems like your child doesn't understand or even respond. Our kids soak up so much more than we give them credit for!

30. Training Parents on How to Promote Healthy Speech and Language Development - Part 1

Have you heard of the 30 Million Word Gap by Dana Suskind? My professor introduced me to it while I was getting my master's degree in speech language pathology. I used it to create a service project for my Albert Schweitzer Fellowship.    During the project, I trained parents on how to promote healthy speech and language development for their kids. This episode is part 1 of a 3 part series describing the trainings I did for these parents.    GET THE FREE MILESTONES PDF: thespeechparent.com/milestones [http://thespeechparent.com/milestones]   Link to NPR article [https://www.npr.org/sections/ed/2018/06/01/615188051/lets-stop-talking-about-the-30-million-word-gap]critiquing the 30 Million Word Gap study/book.    ** Don't forget to email thespeechparent@gmail.com [thespeechparent@gmail.com] with any questions! 26. Why an AAC Speech Device or Talker Isn't Working for Your Child

Does your child have an AAC Speech Generating Device? (Aka an iPad or tablet with buttons that they use to communicate) Do you feel like it's not working for them?   It probably isn't. But not for the reasons you might think.   AAC devices are POWERFUL at unlocking communication for kids. But the adults in the child's life NEED to know how to talk on it and support their child's learning.   Teaching your child how to talk and doing speech therapy at home is important for the success of an AAC user. And it doesn't have to be hard or complex! Any parent can learn!   I've got a FREE training webinar [https://www.thespeechparent.com/aachelp/]in the works for anyone interested in learning more about modeling and supporting AAC users!
