The Sperrins: Mining, Power & Community in Northern Ireland
Today was one of the most difficult days of the campaign so far. Beginning with lack of access to broadband for 3rd parties descended into a series of decisions that left earth protectors questioning whether fairness and equality of treatment matter at all in this process . In the second half of the podcast, I am joined by Cormac McAleer and Fidelma O'Kane to discuss the events that unfolded when local lived experience collided with the rigid rules of the planning system. In this episode: * Third parties left without internet access while other parties remained connected * Growing frustration inside the hearing room * Questions of fairness and equal treatment * The attempt to exclude evidence based on lived experience * The dramatic events surrounding Bernie Collins' appearance * Cormac McAleer and Fidelma O'Kane reflect on what happened 🎙️ Listen now and decide for yourself what today's events reveal about the Public Inquiry process.
