Today, our guest is Zavon Hines, a former professional footballer who played for the likes of West Ham United, Coventry City, Bradford City and Dagenham & Redbridge. Zavon now coaches at West Ham United’s Academy of Football. Firstly, Zavon gives us a detailed description of his journey into football from being born in Jamaica and moving to the UK to then making his Premier League debut for West Ham United. He speaks about his loan move to Coventry which helped him develop. We speak about his memorable games such as his last-minute winner against Aston Villa in 2009 and the famous West Ham v Millwall game. He then speaks about his memorable time at Bradford City where he contributed to them getting to the 2013 League Cup Final and winning promotion. In a fascinating episode, it concludes with Zavon telling us why he had to retire early, and he gives essential advice to the next generation of young ballers who want to make it in the Premier League.
