Sandra, the founder of Black Girl White Coat and a second year Emergency Medicine Resident Physician in Chicago. She created Black Girl White Coat in order to fill in the gap for Black and Brown students looking to pursue careers in the healthcare field. It is a social media platform aimed at providing motivation, representation, mentorship, and scholarship to those traditionally underrepresented in healthcare. Basically, she identified the many things that she felt she could have benefited from along her journey and created a safe, honest, and transparent space for exactly that!

Dr. Cuffie is Cali born, military raised. Currently residing in New Orleans, LA serving as the assistant director for the HIV Outpatient Dental Clinic at University Medical Center and Assistant professor-clinical at LSU School of Dentistry. A member of Kappa Alpha Psi and a Captain in the Army National Guard. Received his BS in biology from Xavier University of Louisiana and Master of Public Health from LSU Health Sciences Center. While at LSU, he co-authored two public health publications; in juvenile justice reform and HIV care. After working in public health in disease management, he enrolled in Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry where he received a certificate in health science and became a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Scholar. Upon graduation in 2016 with his DDS, he completed a two year residency in hospital dentistry at University Medical Center New Orleans, serving as Chief Resident and focused his attention on serving the underserved. Currently working in Infectious Disease dentistry with a population that is 95% minority. He is living his dream of providing smiles to those who look just like me. It’s a pleasure to be able to serve a population that’s is majority minority in a city where their providers 9/10 are not minority and being a symbol of hope and achievement. I’m grateful for the opportunities afforded me by my HBCUs Xavier University and Meharry Medical and always reach back to help others. Thank you for highlighting a black man like me!
