The T² Podcast - Episode 1.7 - Payne Denman

Payne Denman is a golf legend in Smithville, TN, and he continues to make his mark both statewide and nationally! The DeKalb County High School grad won the 109th Tennessee State Amateur Championship in Loudon, which qualified him for the U.S. Amateur Championship this week in Chaska, MN. Prior to heading to the tournament, Denman joined The T² Podcast to talk about his experience at the State Championship, his expectations for the U.S. Championship, and to reflect on his many accomplishments to date. Since the time of recording this episode, much has changed in the life of Payne Denman. After spending two seasons as an assistant golf coach at Middle TN State University, Denman accepted a position as an assistant at the University of Tennessee! He shared the news with us at the time of recording, but since it hadn't yet become official, we kept it under wraps. Payne also shot a respectable 3-over-par during Stroke Play at the U.S. Championship, missing out on advancing to Match Play by only three strokes. We congratulate Payne for all his success this year, in past years, and we are looking forward to many more great things to come in the years ahead!!
