The Tumbao Podcast
Camilo Fuentealba Brevis is a Chilean-Canadian photographer based in New York, whose work moves between street photography, portraiture, fashion, and commercial projects. His images are candid, often colorful and flash-driven, and grounded in a deep attention to people—their gestures, relationships, and fleeting expressions. Spending over a decade walking the city, Camilo has built a practice rooted in observation and presence. His photographs don’t just document moments—they catch something just before or just after, when people are most themselves. There’s humor, tension, intimacy, and sometimes chaos, but always a sense of care in the way he looks at others. What stands out in Camilo’s work is not just his eye, but his consistency. Street photography, for him, is a daily commitment—showing up without knowing what he’ll find, trusting that something meaningful will reveal itself. Over time, that discipline has shaped a body of work that feels both cinematic and deeply human. Outside of the street, his approach carries into everything he does, including his non-traditional take on wedding photography—treating it not as a staged event, but as another space to document people as they are.
