Descripción

Today’s episode of The TyePod features Steve and Vicki, an interdisabled couple who have each navigated life with their own disabilities and chronic health conditions. Many of us with more significant disabilities often think that an interabled relationship is the most realistic path. Steve and Vicki’s story offers a different perspective, demonstrating that relationships between two people with disabilities can be successful! During our conversation, they share stories from their relationship journey, including Twitch conversations, a memorable “tube-ular” discussion, and the ways they maintain a strong connection despite the distance between Chicago and Pittsburgh. One of the strategies that stood out to me was their commitment to always planning the next visit before saying goodbye. Tune in next week for my conversation with @ReenaFriedmanWatts! Season 3 Episode 96 with Brittany, @ChronicallyDeterminedJourney

Special Monday episode of the TyePod on this Memorial Day! Brittany joins me to talk about her diagnosis of immunoglobulin A nephropathy. We talk about her passion for animals as a veterinary assistant as well as her advocacy work. I particularly enjoyed Brittany talking about her family support system and love for Yorkie terriers! A special thank you to Brittany and her husband for their service! Tune in later this week for my conversation with @InterdisabledInLove! Season 3 Episode 95 with Amar Sharif, @SexyDisabledFolks

Amar is the founder of Sexy Disabled Folks LLC and a licensed social worker living with Spina Bifida. She talks about her journey with disability and topics on disabled sexuality. I really appreciate Amar being so open and raw about her life and perspective on the disability space. From opening up about past experiences of abuse to the vulnerability many of us face with disability intimacy to how our community can find resources on sexual health I feel Amar has a very in tune perspective! Next week’s episode will feature @InterdisabledInLove! Catch new episodes on Friday on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube! Season 3 Episode 94 with Mr. Cool Beans, host of The Chronic Brew Podcast

Today I talk with Mr. Cool Beans about his life story which does include creation of the second coffee flavored podcast (clearly I missed my opportunity to incorporate coffee into the title of this show 😅). He shares his ongoing journey with CKD or chronic kidney disease and challenges like travel for a bevy of appointments on a regular basis. Mr. Cool Beans brings up a great point during the conversation about revisiting joyful and honestly nostalgic periods of life when living with chronic health situations. In his case that currently involves a return to the world of Pokemon card collections. I know for a fact that others (me!) go to similar lighthearted activities to escape reality at times! Next week’s episode will feature @SexyDisabledFolks! Catch new episodes on Friday on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube! Season 3 Episode 93 with Jen aka @PsoriaticJen

Jennifer Hunter discusses her journey with chronic illnesses, including polycystic ovary syndrome, chronic migraine, Graves disease, and psoriatic arthritis. She shares her diagnosis, switching doctors, and moving to a new state. The chronic illness community has an amazing ability to adapt especially with the help of our family and friends with us along the way. I loved learning about Jennifer’s family support system and how it has evolved! Next week’s episode will feature @MrCoolBeans2889!
