Round 7 of the NRL Northern Territory saw Darwin Brothers extend their unbeaten run to 7-0 with a 38-20 win over the Nightcliff Dragons. The Northern Sharks battled back to defeat the South Darwin Rabbitohs 26-8 after early pressure, strong impact off the bench from Douglas-Webb and clinical finishing by Bailey Zaro. At Weber Park the Litchfield Bears claimed a hard-fought 28-20 victory over the Palmerston Raiders, with Raiders rookie Lamonte Banderson crossing twice. Round 8 fixtures: Nightcliff Dragons vs Palmerston Raiders, Northern Sharks vs Litchfield Bears, Darwin Brothers vs South Darwin Rabbitohs.
Darwin City defeats Navy Tridents 44-22 in Thrilling Representative Round
Darwin City defeated the ADF Navy Tridents 44-22 after a dominant first half and a decisive late surge, with Ikechi Mere scoring a hat-trick and Robbie Butcher influential across the whole game. The Tridents fought back in the second half, narrowing the gap to six before a crucial penalty and Darwin’s late tries sealed the win. Earlier, the Southern Heat beat Darwin City 14-10 in an NRLW combine selection match, with Courtney Tamati named player of the match. Round seven of the premierships returns next weekend with several local clashes to look forward to.
Rugby League Returns to Darwin: Navy Tridents vs Darwin City
Representative rugby league returns to Darwin for the first time since 2019 with two matches at TRL Stadium on the King’s Birthday long weekend: an NRLW Combine Selection Match: Southern Heat v Darwin City at 5:15pm and the main game, Darwin City v Navy Tridents, at 6:30pm. The event will be live-streamed for free on YouTube.
