The YIO Podcast (Our Stories and Advocacy Journey)
The International Day of the Girl Child (IDG), established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012, focuses on issues such as education, equality, child marriage, access to puberty and sexual health services, and addressing gender-based violence. Since 2012, the 11th of October has been designated as International Day of the Girl Child. The day emphasizes and addresses the needs and challenges that girls face, as well as promotes girls' empowerment and the realization of their human rights. This year’s theme is centered on the digital divide. This year's IDG celebration necessitates a continued innovative approach to connecting girls through digital spaces while emphasizing the inclusion of voices that are frequently excluded from these spaces. In accordance with the foregoing and in keeping with this year's theme, A360 Amplify is amplifying the social conversation about some of the digital best practices being implemented to ensure that girls' sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs are not put on hold due to pandemics. Guest speakers highlighted the opportunities inherent in quickly fusing digital innovation with field-tested outreach to merge COVID-19 awareness with SRH information, delivering creative, urgent, and difficult solutions to an ever-changing situation.
