Dear cousins,  We are back with another episode for you and this time we brought company!  We have Dr. Patricia Cruz, a social scientist and licensed clinical therapist in Flowood, Miss.  In this episode we talk about what really happened to Black fathers across decades — forcing them out of the household. We discuss the impact of absent fathers and who it affects most. Tune in for more and as always, #stayrooted.

SE02_EP12: THE BLACK ATHLETE EXPERIENCE

Hey family!  We're back with another episode.  In this episode, we touch base on The Black Athlete Experience.  We sit down with Shay Hodge who's a Mississippi native.  Hodge played for Ole Miss and was afforded the opportunity to play in the National Football League!  Shay was able to share a lot about his upbringing and the reason why he chose to attend a PWI versus an HBCU.  We discuss how the community plays an important role in a Black athlete's life and the importance of keeping that tradition going.  We know that there are a lot more things that we can make a career out of but we seem to gravitate to sports and entertainment often and our cousin Shay shares a lot more.. So, tap in and tell a friend and as always - #stayrooted.

SE02_EP09: ROOTS

We all have a desire to know our origin story.  Most of us find ourselves in the history of our lineage.  In this episode, we tap into another realm and dig into the dirt of our family history.  Ashley and Kimar sparked an interest of learning more about their family histories around the same time in the years 2016-2017.  They discovered that family history can take one further than any other history.  Throughout this episode, we learn why Kimar isn't a big fan of ancestry sites and Ashley shares part of her family tree with relatives that were born in the 1800s!  Whew... family, you're in for a treat with this one.  Our hope is that while we continue to journey through our family history - you too will commence or continue to find the origin of your family's history to strengthen our identities as a whole.  So, show ya love and tap in and as always family, #stayrooted!
