From Death to Life

Let me try to explain my emotions. There wasn’t shock. I’d been prepared. There was an unexpected and consuming wave of sadness, which someone described as the feeling that comes when you realize there is one less person on the earth that loves you. There was also a sense of excitement for the new things he would learn and discover in his new life. I know that sounds weird, but it was there. There was gratitude for the knowledge I had that this was a transition and not an ending and that our relationship would persist despite the fact that we now exist on different planes.

Asking Questions

My life was changed by asking a series of why questions over a long period of time. To this day, I still ask why. I read the scriptures, and I ask why. I listen to the prophet of the world, and I ask why. I see the pain and anguish in the world, and I ask why. And I hope that I never stop asking why because for me to stop asking why is to stop growing and to stop growing is to stagnate, and stagnant water does not produce life. But the living water of Jesus Christ does. Take a minute to remember the last time you asked why. Then take a minute to take your most heartfelt why to God. Listen for the answer whether it come by the Spirit to your mind or heart or to your ears by a friend or stranger.
