Through the Ruth - A Podcast where we get to the heart of home
In many homes, one person runs everything and the other sits back and reaps the rewards. This episode is not about gender BUT STATISTICALLY it is the Male that is not meeting their share. If this is not your household, then great, but what if it is? Is it fair for the female to be doing more than half the role of home (including cleaning, cooking, paying bills, getting extensions, going to shops, chemist, doctors appointments, booking all appointments, taking kids to sport, paying for these, cancelling when they are sick, taking time off work to tend to sickness in the house, booking leave ahead for appointments etc. etc. ) and then be expected to also work full time? and maybe then also sharing the cost fifty fifty? As an adult, who doesn't simply want a second mum, needs to step up and take HALF the role of looking after home. Gender should not be an excuse for servitude. Free domestic labour. Because it's a second FULL TIME ROLE and true partnership is exactly that. Partnership. I am one of the lucky ones. But saying that alone is sad. Lucky ones? So many of my friends do not have that 'fortune' with their partners and then the partners say they were blind sighted when they finally leave. Partnership. What do you think that means exactly. What can change for the better now, so it doesn't change for the worse later and you 'never saw it coming'.
