Another piece of advice I have on dating is this: keep the first few dates short. You’re busy, you’ve got a life, and you don’t need to spend an entire day or night with someone you just met—no matter how fun or exciting it feels. Set a time boundary: two and a half to three hours max. That’s plenty for dinner and maybe a movie. It keeps the energy light, leaves him wanting more, and allows the relationship to grow at a gradual pace without giving too much too soon. Here’s why it works: long dates can actually backfire.
