Zephaniah Introduction
Nahum Overview
This book announces the destruction of Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrian Empire. It reveals God as slow to anger, but He is also just in his judgment. He will protect the humble and punish the arrogant.
Habakkuk Overview
In this book the prophet questions God about as why He allows Judah's sins to continue. He then wonders why God would use an even more wicked nation (Babylon) to punish them. A key phrase of this book is "the just shall live by his faith." Habakkuk 2:4
Micah Part 2
The prophet Micah prophecied to both the northern and southern kingdoms of Israel. His message was against the rich and powerful. Their leaders were taking advantage of the poor and helpless. This book balances warnings of inevitable exile with promises of a future, restored remnant. Micah highlights wthe requirements to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God(Micah 6:8).
