Two Heads Are Better Than One
With the Scottish Election on 7 May fast approaching, education policy should be front and centre in the political debate—yet it often takes a back seat to issues like the cost of living and healthcare. In the last Two Heads Are Better Than One podcast before the election, Rod Grant and Cameron Wyllie conduct a detailed analysis of each party’s Scottish education manifesto, comparing how the Conservatives, Greens, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Reform UK, and SNP plan to tackle what many see as a crisis in Scottish schools. In this podcast hear directly from Stephen Kerr for the Conservatives, Paul O'Kane from Labour, Willie Rennie for the Liberal Democrats and Malcolm Offord for Reform UK. We explore major themes including Curriculum for Excellence reform, the widening attainment gap in Scotland, Additional Support Need provision, classroom discipline, teacher recruitment, and the future of Scottish school exams. Crucially, we’ll also examine how realistic and deliverable these policies are in practice. We'd love to hear your thoughts, stories and questions about schools and education today.
