Understanding Pain
In this episode, we continue exploring why pain persists for some people but settles for others. We look at patterns seen in research across large populations — including socioeconomic circumstances, differences between men and women, and body weight — and how these are linked with higher rates of persistent pain. We also introduce a different type of influence: medical treatment itself, and why some people continue to experience pain even after surgery has been technically successful. This episode builds on the previous discussion and leads into the next, where we shift focus towards the healthcare journey and how it can shape pain outcomes.
