Pearls Before Swine - Part 2

“You say being meek is weak, try being meek for a week.” KB Meekness, per the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is enduring injury with patience and without resentment. 😳 Now, I know what KB meant when he challenged us to ‘try being meek for a week’. It takes great strength to not respond in the flesh. In this episode I reference the verbal attack I received recently and how I wanted to respond to it in my feelings. Instead, I ‘responded’ in meekness, only by the grace of God. I share this with you in hope that you’ll do the same when confronted with messiness, better even. When you give love and receive contempt, ask God how He wants you to respond. Sometimes it’s with perseverance, and others it’s by leaving it to Him with minimal or no additional help from you. This podcast episode is 1 of 2 that discusses the latter. When God says pull back and give it to Him, though the compassionate heart wants to keep pouring out, we need to pull back. God gives this to us, in part, to help us protect our peace. He was on that phrase far before it became a popular ; ) The more we’re disobedient to this instruction when He gives it to us, the more damage ‘they’ can do to us, and the more we do to ourselves by enabling the pain it brings. The pain often feels like confirmation of how bad of a person insecurities tell us we are, how much they tell us we don’t fit in, et. Remember, those are lies.
