Week 6 (May 17): Faith Before the Law: Abraham’s Example Romans 4 This week confronts the little g gods of spiritual pedigree, religious identity, and inherited faith. Paul points to Abraham to prove that righteousness has never been earned through law, ritual, or heritage. Long before circumcision or the giving of the law, Abraham was declared righteous because he believed God’s promise. The message will explore what genuine faith looks like. Abraham trusted God when circumstances made the promise seem impossible, believing that God could bring life out of what appeared dead. His story shows that belonging to God’s people has always been defined by trust in God, not by checking religious boxes or family background. This passage calls believers to move beyond inherited religion and cultivate the same resilient faith that rests confidently in God’s promises.
