Descripción

Alzheimer’s can feel like one of those topics that instantly brings up fear. But in this part of our conversation with Dr. Joshua Helman, MD, that fear starts to shift into something else, curiosity, better questions, and a little more hope. In Part 2, Tina Rains, RN, and Melinda Lee Foster continue their conversation with Dr. Josh about younger Alzheimer’s, prevention, brain health, and why age is not the only thing that matters. They talk about chronological age vs. biological age, controversial medical questions, what to ask your doctor, how to find someone who thinks more holistically, brain training, self-compassion, and why caregivers need support too. In Part 1, Dr. Josh introduced his TIME framework — toxins, inflammation, microbes, and energy. In Part 2, we keep going with younger Alzheimer’s, prevention, brain health, better questions to ask, and why there may still be hope.  T = toxins I = inflammation M = microbes E = energy That framework carries into this conversation too, especially as they talk about sleep, stress, brain energy, and what families can do next. Can Alzheimer’s Really Be Reversed?

Alzheimer’s has always scared me a little. You start noticing small things in yourself or someone you love, and it’s hard not to wonder, “Is this the beginning?” That’s where this conversation with Dr. Joshua Helman started. With fear, honest questions, and the hope that maybe there is more to this story than families are usually told. In Part 1, Tina Rains, RN, and Melinda Lee Foster talk with Dr. Josh about Alzheimer’s, dementia, root causes, and his T.I.M.E. framework: toxins, inflammation, microbes, and energy. They also talk about why caregivers need to pay attention to their own health too. Part 2 continues next week. I Just Can’t Do It All: How Caregiving Slowly Drains Your Energy

Caregiving stress can feel like someone plugged into you and started zapping your energy. In this episode, Tina and Melinda talk about what happens when caregiving slowly drains you. The stress, the guilt, the over-scheduling, the pressure to do everything yourself, and the moment you finally have to admit, “I just can’t do it all.” They also talk about why saying no can feel so hard, why caregivers often take on too much, and how small moments of laughter, boundaries, and support can help lighten the load. If you’re caring for an aging parent and feel like your energy is constantly being pulled in every direction, this conversation is for you. You are not alone. 💜 More support: https://welaughsowedontcry.com [https://welaughsowedontcry.com/] Join our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1ENtjHVb6D/?mibextid=wwXIfr [https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1ENtjHVb6D/?mibextid=wwXIfr] Website resources / care navigator call: https://masterpiececare.com/family-guides [https://masterpiececare.com/family-guides] The Caregiver Podcast for Aging Parents, Dementia & Senior Care Thanks for listening to We Laugh So We Don’t Cry — honest conversations, real support, and a little laughter for the caregiving journey. 🌐 Podcast Website [https://welaughsowedontcry.com/] ✅ Free Guides & Resources [https://masterpiececare.com/guides]: Join our Facebook group, explore free downloads, or book a free 15-minute call with a care navigator.  🤍 Thanks to our sponsor, MasterPiece Care [https://masterpiececare.com/], for providing free caregiver guides and resources. The Day I Finally Took a Break… and Couldn’t Enjoy It

Melinda was in Paris, sick, trying to enjoy a break, when she found out her mom’s caregiver had quit. And immediately, that familiar caregiver guilt showed up. What am I supposed to do from here? Am I allowed to be happy right now? In this episode, Tina Rains, RN, and Melinda Lee Foster talk about the guilt that can creep in even when you are doing your best. The guilt that shows up when you finally take a break. The shame that says, “Shame on me for even feeling this way.” The feeling that no matter what you do, it’s never enough. They also talk about giving yourself grace, listening to the same story again, and knowing when someone you love may need more care than you can safely give. This one is for the caregiver who loves deeply, but still gets tired. episode Caregiver Stress: What To Do Before You Burn Out | Simple Tools to Lighten the Load artwork

Caregiver Stress: What To Do Before You Burn Out | Simple Tools to Lighten the Load

Caregiving can feel heavy, especially when you are carrying stress, guilt, constant responsibility, and the pressure to keep going. In this special workshop episode of We Laugh So We Don’t Cry, Tina Rains, RN, and Melinda Lee Foster walk through simple tools to help caregivers reduce stress, identify triggers, set boundaries, build a care team, and find small ways to reset before burnout takes over. This episode is more interactive than usual, so you may want a notebook nearby. You’ll be invited to pause, reflect, and write down a few things that can help you better understand what is causing stress and what support you may need. Note: This episode includes reflection prompts, breathing, grounding, and simple movement exercises. Please do not do the activity portions while driving, operating equipment, or doing anything that needs your full attention. You can always come back to those parts later when you’re in a safe place. If caregiving has been getting to you lately, this episode is meant to help you feel a little less alone and a little more supported.
