‘What It's Taken’ by David and Jenny Harkin
In this episode we’re joined by Adam Ramsay - Peaty OBE, Olympic champion, world record holder, and one of the most dominant athletes the sport of swimming has ever seen. Adam’s journey began at a small swimming club in Uttoxeter before moving to the City of Derby Swimming Club at the age of 14, where he was coached by former Olympian Mel Marshall. What followed was a rise that would redefine what many thought was possible in the pool. In 2014, Adam announced himself on the international stage by breaking his first world record at the European Championships. Just two years later, he became Olympic Champion in the 100m Breaststroke at the Rio Games. Not content with reaching the top, Adam set himself an even bigger challenge: becoming the first British swimmer in history to successfully defend an Olympic title. At the Tokyo Olympics, he achieved exactly that. With more than 40 international medals, multiple world records, and a reputation as the greatest sprint breaststroke swimmer of all time, Adam's success has been built on an extraordinary commitment to improvement, discipline and self-belief. In this conversation we explore: – The mindset behind sustained world-class performance – How to deal with pressure when expectations are at their highest – The sacrifices required to stay at the top – And what it really takes to keep chasing excellence after you've already achieved greatness A fascinating and honest conversation with one of Britain's greatest sporting champions about ambition, resilience and the pursuit of becoming better every day.
