Join me and two ladies on our five mile hike to stay the night at the Len Foote Hike Inn at Amicalola Falls State Park! Being above my ideal BMI and not very active, I was apprehensive about striking out on a five mile hike but I'm so thankful to Michele and Tiffany for believing in me, inviting me and understanding when I needed to take a break. A Few of Our Favorite Places and Things About Augusta, Georgia

Augusta needs to be on your destination list when you are looking for a long weekend getaway.  The area is rich in history and the perfect size to find many options of things to see and do! Being the second oldest city in Georgia, you can definitely find historical destinations, museums, and antebellum homes.  Southern Living has a great site listing many wonderful things to do while in town. A few of our favs include The Bin Store in North Augusta, SC - just across the Savannah River from Augusta, The Ivy Boutique to find snazzy outfits, Final Cut for great deals from stores such as Anthropology, grab lunch and a sweet at The Boll Weevil  then take a stroll up the stairs to the river, have a romantic dinner at Luigi's in downtown (make a reservation or arrive before they open for dinner!), spend some great family time at the Savannah Rapids Park, pick out a plant or two at Bedfords Greenhouses, visit Ruben's Department Store to take a step back in time, and make sure to head to the Arts in the Heart of Augusta - this year's events will be September 15-17, 2023.
