Kwame Lillard was a Nashville Civil Rights Leader and Freedom Rider who started the African American Cultural Alliance [https://www.aacanashville.com/]in 1983 because he wanted a place to promote the positive aspects of African culture through music, history, poetry, food, and dance. The organization will host Juneteenth615 at Centennial Park [https://www.juneteenth615.com/] this Friday (June 19) the same place where Lillard and Matthew Walker integrated the pools in 1961. Sherwyn and his twin brother Kendrick was born in Brooklyn before his family moved to Nashville. It was here where he got his first bass, his dad would take him to see jazz shows at 3rd and Lindsley, his older brothers would take him to Limelight, and where him and his twin started making music.
