Descripción

Writers on Wax: The Sound of Graffiti is a series of vinyls that bring to life the development surrounding the phenomenon graffiti, with graffiti writers producing music under their alter egos. The fact that graffiti writers also produce music is a development that is underexposed in the still growing (commercial) interest in graffiti and street art. Writers on Wax offers these creators a platform: a tangible product for their musical talent, expression and experimentation. We give the music a right to exist. Not to help the makers with their 'careers' but to prevent it from remaining stagnant and unheard, and to show a new perspective on the development of graffiti. The project and also the creators are young at heart. Spontaneous. Disinterested. Graffiti is freedom. Ruyzdael now proudly presents Writers on Wax: The Sound of Graffiti Volume 2. Especially for the third release in this series of vinyls we are sharing some insights in a series of podcasts, in which we feature the artists who are on the album and people involved in the project. In EPISODE 2, Ferry van Zijderveld, one of the founders of Ruyzdael and founding father of the project Writers on Wax - The Sound of Graffiti, discusses the cohesion of graffiti and music and its creators, with Paul du Bois-Reymond. He is a visual artist in the Writers on Wax: The Sound of Graffiti exhibition in the Museum of Graffiti in Miami, and affiliated with the subject of this podcast. They share all with Mark Dix, our moderator in these series.

The project and also the creators are young at heart. Spontaneous. Disinterested. Graffiti is freedom.  Especially for the third release in this series of vinyls we are sharing some insights in a series of podcasts, in which we feature the artists who are on the album and people involved in the project. In episode 6 Mark Dix talks to Paris based CHAZE. A truely dedicated graffiti writer with roots on the streets and in train yards. CHAZE tells how he moved from Paris to New York City back to Paris and how graffiti and music intertwine in his life. Enjoy!

Something he could not imagine when he started painting. An interesting conversation on the history of graffiti from DUDES point of view and being a graffiti writer or not.

In episode 3 Mark Dix is interviewing CREDIT00 a.k.a. THE FOO on how he balances the self-promotion necessary to find work as a musician with the secretive world of underground graffiti. 'Bad Man Time' is the title of the electro-ambient-power track created by CREDIT00 for this release. For more than a decade CREDIT00 has shaken electronic sounds, stirring shapes and forms, and painting streets and trains. It was through hip-hop-culture in the early 90's that he realized that you don't need a degree or need to know how to play an instrument to create.
