Your Breath is Your Power

Before we had words, before we could run, before we could even open our eyes… we breathed. Breath is our very first act in this life and the one constant that remains with us until our final moment. And yet, most of us move through our days without truly noticing it. In yoga, the breath isn’t just a background function—it’s the bridge between body, mind, and spirit. Today, I want to guide you through a pranayama practice that I return to again and again. It’s simple, powerful, and rooted in something I believe with my whole heart: your breath is your power. The Sanskrit word pranayama comes from two parts: prana meaning “life force” and ayama meaning “extension” or “control.” Pranayama is more than just “breathing exercises.” It’s a way of working with your breath intentionally so you can direct your energy, calm your mind, and expand your awareness. When practiced regularly, pranayama can: * Reduce stress and anxiety. * Improve focus and mental clarity. * Increase energy and vitality. * Deepen your connection with your body’s rhythms. But beyond benefits, pranayama is an invitation—to come home to yourself, one breath at a time. So wherever you are—whether sitting at your desk, curled up on the couch, or pausing between the busyness of your day—give yourself permission to slow down. Let this be your moment.Let this be your breath. If you’d like me to guide you through each step, press play on the attached video and follow along. Peace and love! This is a public episode.
