The Red Sphinx: Or, The Comte de Moret; A Sequel to The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas

Title: The Red Sphinx: Or, The Comte de Moret; A Sequel to The Three Musketeers Series: #2 of The Musketeers Cycle Author: Alexandre Dumas Narrator: John Lee Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 23 hours 49 minutes Release date: January 3, 2017 Ratings: Ratings of Book: 5 of Total 1 Genres: Classics Publisher's Summary: For the first time in English in over a century comes a new translation of the forgotten sequel to Dumas’s The Three Musketeers, continuing the dramatic tale of Cardinal Richelieu and his implacable enemies. In 1844, Alexandre Dumas published The Three Musketeers, a novel so famous and still so popular today that it scarcely needs introduction. Shortly thereafter he wrote a sequel, Twenty Years After, that resumed the adventures of his swashbuckling heroes. Later, toward the end of his career, Dumas wrote The Red Sphinx, another direct sequel to The Three Musketeers that begins not twenty years later but a mere twenty days afterward. The Red Sphinx picks up right where the The Three Musketeers left off, continuing the stories of Cardinal Richelieu, Queen Anne, and King Louis XIII―and introducing a charming new hero, the Comte de Moret, a real historical figure from the period. A young cavalier newly arrived in Paris, Moret is an illegitimate son of the former king and thus half-brother to King Louis. The French Court seethes with intrigue as king, queen, and cardinal all vie for power, and young Moret soon finds himself up to his handsome neck in conspiracy, danger―and passionate romance. Dumas wrote seventy-five chapters of The Red Sphinx for serial publication but never finished it, and so the novel languished for almost a century before its first book publication in France in 1946. While Dumas never completed the book, he had earlier written a separate novella, The Dove, that recounted the final adventures of Moret and Cardinal Richelieu. Now for the first time, in one cohesive narrative, The Red Sphinx and The Dove make a complete and satisfying story line―a rip-roaring novel of historical adventure, heretofore unknown to English-language readers, by the great Alexandre Dumas, king of the swashbucklers.

Title: Edgar Allan Poe: The Complete Audio Collection, Vol. 1 Author: Edgar Allan Poe Narrator: Ray Chase, Donald Corren, Cassandra Campbell, Kirby Heyborne, Grover Gardner Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 44 hours 54 minutes Release date: December 31, 2016 Ratings: Ratings of Book: 4.25 of Total 12 Ratings of Narrator: 5 of Total 1 Genres: Classics Publisher's Summary: Gothic master Edgar Allan Poe’s complete works are collected in this multivolume set by Blackstone Audio. Here are his short stories, detective fiction, and poems in all their mysterious and macabre glory. Also included are Poe’s literary reviews and editorial musings, comprising an often caustic analysis of the poetry, drama, and fiction of the period. This collection includes Poe’s famous stories “The Masque of the Red Death,” “The Pit and the Pendulum,” and “The Tell-Tale Heart.” Poe’s poetry features prominently in this collection, with well-known classics such as “The Raven,” “Annabel Lee,” and “Lenore” presented alongside lesser-known works like “Eulalie” and “The Conqueror Worm.” Poe fans will be treated to his fearless and acerbic analysis of then-modern works, a practice earning him the reputation as a “tomahawk man” in artistic circles.

The Strange Case of Jekyll and Hyde (Version 4 - Dramatic Reading) by Robert Louis Stevenson

Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/281299 [https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/281299] to listen full audiobooks. Title: The Strange Case of Jekyll and Hyde (Version 4 - Dramatic Reading) Author: Robert Louis Stevenson Narrator: LibriVox Volunteers Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 2 hours 38 minutes Release date: December 14, 2016 Ratings: Ratings of Book: 4.07 of Total 98 Ratings of Narrator: 3.81 of Total 36 Genres: Classics Publisher's Summary: A series of mysterious and increasingly alarming crimes are taking place across London. People are being injured, even murdered without mercy and without reason. And yet, the perpetrator cannot be found. The crimes happen overnight, but in the morning the murderer is gone "like breath upon a mirror". Mr Utterson (a lawyer), Dr Lanyon and Dr Jekyll each bring their insights to this sinister conundrum. Robert Louis Stevenson's classic story of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is brought to life with a cast of voices in this dramatic reading. Only 10 chapters long, tradition says that Stevenson wrote the novella in less than a week, yet the central idea of the duality of human nature continues to fascinate through the ages!
