This might sound crazy, but the story really started moving the same day the conversation began. After hours of talking, learning about each other’s lives, and realizing how many things we had in common, the stranger sent something that felt like a challenge. An address. He joked that his future wife would probably already be standing at his door. And somehow, instead of laughing it off, I found myself getting in the car that night and driving to meet someone I had only known for a few hours. Looking back, that decision feels unbelievable. But in the moment, it felt exciting. It felt spontaneous. It felt like the beginning of something. In this episode, I talk about the night I showed up at the stranger’s house and the conversations that made everything feel a little too perfect. Because sometimes the craziest decisions do not feel crazy at all when you are living inside them.

Episode 1 | The Doorway I Rushed Through |Before I Listened™

Sometimes the moment that changes everything does not feel important at the time. It is just a message you send, a drive you decide to make, or a stranger you decide to meet. In the first episode of Before I Listened, I tell the story of how one Saturday morning conversation on a dating app turned into a decision that would change much more than I realized at the time. What started as a simple message quickly turned into hours of conversation, unexpected similarities, and a late night decision to meet someone I had only known for a few hours. Looking back now, there were signs. There were questions I should have asked. There were moments that should have made me pause. But when you are living inside the moment, red flags do not always look like warnings. Sometimes they look like excitement. This is the story of the doorway I rushed through.
