Roots in Kumasi, Faith in America: Ben on Community, Discipline, and ‘There Has to Be More’ I chat Benjamin Amankwah (“Ben”), a church “big brother,” about learning selflessness from home and church, encountering God young, and how church discipline, deep Sunday school teaching, strong mentors (including Maa Grace and others), and a motivating peer community shaped his faith and academics, including improved school performance after prioritizing church and study. Ben describes learning keyboard through multiple mentors, his initial lack of desire to travel, working in Ghana’s telecom sector, then moving to the U.S. for school, facing airport delays, winter, sickness, and restarting life while adjusting to structure and accountability. He advises young Christians to dream big, build a strong spiritual foundation before traveling, stay rooted in prayer, worship, and Bible study, and seek godly people and environments, then shares a 2026 focus on prayer and worship and the idea of “more of God.” Chale, what do you think about this episode? Any new lessons?😁 [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2523566/fan_mail/new]

From Ghana to Lesotho: A Biomedical Engineer's Story (Guest: Daniel)

From Biomedical Engineering to Public Health Impact: Daniel’s Career Journey from Ghana to Lesotho I host my former mentor Daniel, a Ghanaian biomedical engineer currently in Lesotho, to discuss career, impact, and personal growth. Daniel explains choosing biomedical engineering over medicine due to an interest in improving health beyond conventional treatment, later adding nutrition and fitness certifications. After national service as a teaching assistant, he worked from 2017–2023 in a biomedical equipment firm handling hospital construction, installations, training, maintenance, and business development, including supporting equipment used in a conjoined-twins separation. Seeking broader impact, he intentionally transitioned into the nonprofit/public health space, filling skill gaps with courses and moving to Lesotho for a technical-public health role focused on liquid oxygen systems, later pursuing a remote UK MPH while working. We discuss cultural adjustments, honest interviewing, imposter syndrome as a driver for growth, avoiding comparison, staying open-minded, managing energy through exercise and family, and exploring interests beyond career, including modeling and photography. Ep4: So About Ghana Pt2 (ft UncleSam and BenO)

"Chale, There Has to Be More" | Ghana at 69 — Present & Future (Part 2) We're back with Part 2 of our Ghana conversation! In this episode, we continue with UncleSam and BenO as we move from Ghana's past into its present realities and future possibilities. We talk about why there is still reason to hope — from young Ghanaians groping in the dark who just need someone to switch on the light, to the power of the diaspora reconnecting with home. BenO shares the story behind the Nkrani Initiative, a collaborative effort to crowdsource diaspora expertise to solve local problems in Ghana. UncleSam reminds us that change doesn't start with big solutions — it starts with brightening your corner. We also get into what it looks like for Christians to be actively involved in nation-building beyond the four walls of the church, and we close out with a rapid fire round featuring our favorite Ghanaians and songs that speak to the Ghana story. Key takeaways: * Ghana's youth are not lazy — they're groping in the dark, waiting for someone to switch on the light * The diaspora has historically been a spark for change in Ghana — and that's still true today * "Brighten your corner" — change starts with you, your workplace, your community * Christians are called to be salt and light — not just on Sundays * Charlie, there has to be more selflessness, more lights switched on, and more chances given If you haven't listened to Part 1, go back and catch it first! Episode 1: More and More with my friends, Maame and Togodui

Chale, There Has to Be More: Growth Mindsets, Habits, and Adulting in America I launch my podcast “Chale, There Has to Be More” and welcome my first guests—Maame, who just finished a PhD in biomedical engineering, and Togo, two longtime friends from Ghana who came to the U.S. around the same time as me and share a growth mindset. We talk about why this podcast fits who we’ve become, how reading and audiobooks (Purpose Driven Life, Atomic Habits, The Alchemist) and motivational voices have shaped us, and how consistency builds habits like working out and boxing. We reflect on childhood moments that sparked big dreams, what adulting in America has taught us about responsibility and bills, and mindset shifts we’ve had to make—believing more is possible, developing emotional intelligence, learning to say no, preparing well, and not comparing ourselves. Throughout, we connect purpose, impact, and faith in God and the Holy Spirit to perseverance and growth, then close with quick-fire questions and gratitude.
