Episode #4 The Power of Hyper Focus & Instinct Creative Minds Unpacked - A podcast for divergent thinking with Stew Kingscott and Kate Cox
Creative Minds Unpacked (CMU) is a podcast for creative people who are Neurodivergent or who dare to think boldly.
A tool for strategies & support; a safe space to explore life & share experience & stories of feeling & thinking differently.
Breaking out of boxes & unpacking our minds as we move forward to a brand world.
Stew Kingscott is a producer and journalist who’s worked for the BBC for over 20 years.
Mainly in local and regional broadcasting in the Midlands, he’s produced successful, award winning & cult radio shows.
Most recently he helped to launch one of the BBC’s new regional afternoon radio shows and has been developing podcasts for BBC Sounds. Including some recent episodes of Secret Worcestershire.
In 2019 he co-created “Sons of Anxiety” with a trusted colleague. A six-part podcast series in partnership with the NHS which tackled Men’s Mental Health - why they bottle things up until they hit breaking point.
But some of his proudest work was on BBC One’s Inside Out West Midlands, where he produced and directed a dozen or so short form documentaries. Where he also began to dabble in investigative journalism and found himself on the set of Peaky Blinders…
He likes running, mountain biking, generally being outdoors and has a deep love for Heavy Metal music. Which has “led to waaaaaaaaaaay too many obsessive music and vinyl-based phases in my life”.
He’s been living with Type 1 Diabetes for over 30 years and was diagnosed with moderate/severe combined ADHD in 2026!

Kate Cox - Creative Producer and host.
I’m Autistic and have ADD so come with a lifetime of lived experience of struggles, intense emotional responses, vibrant thoughts, anxiety and diverse processing styles.
I’ve organised and developed many unique visionary projects, from areas at festivals and events like Boomtown, Green Man, Worcester Victorian Fayre and Nozstock, to running Worcester Paint Festival - an event celebrating Street and Graffiti art culture.
I am passionate about supporting others to explore themselves, and work as a Creative Lead at Pershore Riverside Centre, with youth and SEND provision, and am on the team for The Curiosity Museum, a playful careers tool.
I like talking, and following on from a successful ‘Develop Your Creative Practice’ grant from Arts Council England in 2025, I am shifting my career to encompass more public speaking and mentoring, especially focussing on creative people who are Neurodivergent, or who dare to think boldly.
