On the Dad Dialogue podcast this week is Devin Krotmen from Nashville Dad Walks! Devin has two kids with another on the way very soon. This was a unique experience so for Dad Dialogue as it was the first episode recorded while the guest was parenting at the same time! I was impressed with how chilled his daughter was and the lack of interruption! In the episode we dive into various topics such as being a stay at home dad, the strong emotions of early fatherhood, the importance of communicating clear expectations with our partners and we even find ourselves talking a little about football (soccer) but quickly link it back to the world of parenting. In this episode we look back through the personal lens, discussing growth areas of being a stay at home dad, as well as the lens of the Dad Dialogue podcast, including many clips from previous guests. We then spend some time looking forward briefly to what 2025 has in store personally, but more importantly what 2025 has in store for Dad Dialogue. I hope you enjoy the episode! First episode of 2025! Joining Laurence today is Anson. Anson is from America and is the dad to a teenage son. His son recently started high school. In the episode we discuss how Anson encourages and promotes responsibility with his son and how they worked together as a family to decide on the best school choice, leading to the eventual choice of a private school. We also discuss the feelings and choices behind sticking to having one child as well as the very stark reality of how quickly kids grow up and the impacts that has on us as parents and how we choose to spend our time in our kids’ lives. This episode was filmed at the end 2024 so any time you hear the phrase “this year” or similar, it is referring to the time when the interview was recorded.
