The Mystery Revealed

Discussion Questions: 1) Was there anything from the sermon or the passage that stuck out to you? 2) God's plan was always to bless all nations through Abraham, but the Israelites kept narrowing that promise to themselves. In your own life, where do you notice yourself drawing a smaller circle than God draws? 3) Jonah knew God would forgive Nineveh and that was exactly why he refused to go. When have you found yourself hoping God's grace wouldn't reach someone, and what did that reveal about your own heart? 4) The idea that we are stewards, not sources, of grace means the pressure to fix people is not actually ours to carry. How does that change the way you think about engaging with someone who is struggling? 5) Paul found a way to experience blessing in prison because his joy was not tied to his circumstances. What circumstances in your own life are you waiting to change before you feel free to live out your calling?

Our New Humanity

What is a specific area of your life where remembering where you came from has shaped how you treat others? 3) It's easy to believe intellectually that we were saved by grace while still functionally living as if we've earned our place with God. What does that subtle entitlement look like in daily life, and how do you recognize it in yourself? 4) Paul distinguishes between breaking down a wall and making peace, arguing that walls fall all the time without real peace following. Where do you see people around you pursuing unity without any actual basis for it, and what does the church have to offer that the world doesn't? 5) The sermon named specific walls the church tends to build: generational, ethnic, political, cultural. Which of those feels most real or most challenging in your own experience of Christian community? 6) If the gospel is genuinely good news, a celebration that the war is over, how would that change the posture you bring when sharing your faith with someone who has been hurt by the church or has walked away from it?

Dead, Alive, Seated

Discussion Questions: 1) Was there anything from the sermon or the passage that stuck out to you? 2) Paul describes humanity as "dead" in trespasses rather than simply lost or struggling. What changes when you take the word "dead" seriously, and how does it affect the way you understand what God did for you? 3) The enemy's strategy isn't to make people obviously miserable but to keep them satisfied with good things like money, relationships, and community, so they never look past them. Where have you found yourself most tempted to treat a good thing as an ultimate thing? 4) Ephesians 2:6 says believers are already seated with Christ in the heavenly places, not that they will be someday. What would change in your daily life if you actually lived from that settled identity rather than toward it? 5) Paul says we are God's workmanship, created for good works that He prepared beforehand. What does it look like practically to walk into works God has already prepared, rather than inventing your own agenda for serving? 6) Paul wrote Ephesians from a prison cell, with his freedom stripped away, and the letter is full of praise. What does his contentment reveal about where he had placed his identity, and where does your contentment tend to be located?

Eyes of the Heart

Discussion Questions: 1) Was there anything from the sermon or the passage that stuck out to you? 2) Paul prays that believers would know the hope of God's calling, a settled future that doesn't change based on circumstances. What is one area of your life where anxiety about the present tends to crowd out that longer horizon? 3) Most of us approach God with a list of things we need Him to do or fix. How would your prayer life look different if your primary request was simply for God to open your eyes to what He has already done? 4) The idea that God counts His people as His glorious inheritance, His treasure and portion, is one of the harder things to truly believe. What has made it difficult for you to receive the truth that God genuinely wants you, not just tolerates you? 5) Paul warns against placing more confidence in money and technology than in the power of God. In your daily decision-making, where do you find yourself trusting resources or information more than you trust the Lord? 6)The passage ends with Christ reigning above every rule, authority, and power, and that reign being given as a gift to the church. What would it look like practically to live this week as someone tied to the risen and reigning Christ rather than as someone at the mercy of their circumstances?

What keeps you showing up to gather with a local body, and has that reason shifted over time? 3) Praise is meant to be an action, expressed with voice, body, and life, not simply a feeling held quietly. What is one specific way you are comfortable praising God, and what is one way that still feels awkward or unnatural to you? 4) The Father's love is described as lavished, running, even undignified in its intensity. Does picturing God that way feel comforting, unsettling, or both, and why do you think that is? 5) In the ancient world, adoption granted full legal rights with no second-class standing. Where in your life do you still find yourself trying to earn your keep with God rather than living as a fully adopted child?
