At the tomb, where sorrow and death seem to have the final word, Jesus does something unexpected: he weeps. This episode reflects on what that means for our faith—that Christianity is not about avoiding suffering or putting on spiritual toughness, but about bringing our deepest ցավ and brokenness to Christ, who meets us there with compassion. As we pray, "Lord, come and see," we discover a Savior who does not stand distant from our pain but enters into it, sharing our tears and unbinding us from death through his cross and resurrection.

Our Song in a New Key | First Sunday of Christmas 2025

In this Christmas season sermon for the Feast of the Holy Innocents, Rev. Oliver Bergh invites listeners to hear the familiar story of Scripture as our song in a new key. Drawing on Matthew's account of the flight into Egypt and Herod's violence, this episode shows how the old melodies of Israel's story—exile, refuge, suffering, and promise—are taken up anew because the Son of God now sings them with us. Even in the face of real tragedy and grief, God's Word proves stronger than tyrants and terror, accomplishing what it sets out to do and keeping its promises without fail. By entering fully into our suffering, Christ binds our lives to his own, transforming sorrow into a place where grace can dwell and hope can join our grief. This sermon proclaims a deeply incarnational gospel: God has not abandoned the world in its pain but has joined our song, put all of history into a new key, and invites us to sing the whole song of our lives—trusting that in Christ, nothing is outside the reach of God's faithful mercy.
