In today's episode, Ali Domar, PhD, shares with us evidence-based insights on the connection between stress and fertility, and offers her single most important tip for handling stress during IVF. You don't want to miss this episode: Alice D. Domar, Ph.D., is a pioneer in the field of mind/body medicine. She conducts ongoing ground-breaking research which focuses on the relationship between stress and various medical conditions, including infertility and the impact of lifestyle habits on mental and physical health, with a focus on the impact of cognitive behavioral interventions as well as access to care and patient retention. Dr. Domar received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Health Psychology from Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Ferkauf School of Professional Psychology of Yeshiva University. Her post-doctoral training was at Beth Israel Hospital, Deaconess Hospital, and Children’s Hospital, all in Boston. She is currently the Chief Compassion Officer at Inception Fertility [https://www.inceptionfertility.com/], the largest provider of fertility services in North America, where she leads the Inception Research Institute, furthering the organization’s commitment to advancing groundbreaking research to better understand and treat infertility. She is also an associate professor in obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive biology, part-time, at Harvard Medical School, and a senior staff psychologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Domar is on the board for Parents Magazine and served 10 years on the board of Resolve, the National Infertility Association. She is the author of eight books, including Conquering Infertility and Patient-Centered Assisted Reproduction: How to Integrate Exceptional Care with Cutting Edge Technology, and is the co-creator of the apps FertiCalm and FertiStrong. She is a former chair of ASRM’s mental health professionals’ group. Three of Dr. Domar’s books have been finalists for the Books for a Better Life Award. She was also the Series Editor for a series of mind/body books by Harvard Medical Publications/Simon and Schuster. She is the narrator of the DVD’s “Stress and Relaxation Explained” and “Infertility Explained”, both of which won silver Telly Awards. Dr. Domar has appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, Dateline NBC, CNN, PBS, and the CBS and NBC Evening News, to name a few. She presents lectures and conducts workshops throughout the country and around the world. In 2004 and 2005, Dr. Domar went on tour with Oprah and the LLuminari team. She was also named to the prestigious list of 15 “Women to Watch in 2004” by Lifetime TV.
