These are not ordinary locusts. They have crowns like gold, faces like men, hair like women, teeth like lions, breastplates of iron, and tails like scorpions. Their king bears a chilling name: Abaddon in Hebrew and Apollyon in Greek—both meaning "Destroyer." Yet beneath the horror of this passage lies a powerful truth: hell does not operate independently of heaven. The fallen star is given a key. The locusts are given authority. Their torment is limited to five months. Even in judgment, God remains completely sovereign.
