Listen to the Land: Stories and conversations about home and the land in the rural Southeast
Fernando Mendez of Marview Farms in Arabi, Georgia, has come a long way as a farmer. As we discover in this podcast by Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College student Anfernee McDonald, Fernando Mendez overcame multiple challenges. Born in Cuba, Fernado was brought to the USA when he was only five years old. His father worked for a year in a labor camp in Cuba to earn the chance to leave. At age 29, Fernando was diagnosed with cancer and changed the way he and his family ate. Now he raises goats in a natural environment because he wants to provide his customers with high quality, natural foods.
