Over My Words are My Voice: the (un) spoken words from individuals within the Autism community

Non-speaking autistic individuals have written short stories, poems, profound feelings, philosophical views, and comments on current social events. None of which have been personally verbalized. You will be brought into the minds, hearts, and souls of some very talented, intelligent, creative and remarkable human beings known to be non-speaking. Our world becomes a better place when we all really listen to what's being said.

In a powerfully written op-ed, former valedictorian and non-speaking autistic advocate Elizabeth Bonker demands action — not with a voice, but by tapping one letter at a time (which took hours). She calls on the NYState Senate and Disabilities Committee to release the Communication Bill of Rights for Individuals with Disabilities (S7792b) and bring it to a vote. 1.  Sign a petition we’ve setup on Change.org: https://c.org/H4cDVZbmCb 2. Call or email the Committee Chair, SenatorFahy to “support bill S7792b”. Her number is (518) 455‑2225 or email her at Fahy@nysenate.gov [Fahy@nysenate.gov]. 3.  Call or email the Majority Leader, Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins. Her number is (518) 455-2715 or email scousins@nysenate.gov 4. For all you New Yorkers call or emailyour local Senator: https://www.nysenate.gov/find-my-senator [https://www.nysenate.gov/find-my-senator]. 5. For all you outside the state call Senator Fahy anyway and leave a message.
