POINTING TO THE SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD

"COME OUT": 5th Sunday of Lent A

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/224168/fan_mail/new] Friends in Christ, the readings this Sunday are clear evidence that actions have consequences.  In the 1st reading, we see that when God gets involved with his people, they live because God is life. God says to Israel, "I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, my people. And I shall put my spirit in you, and you will live ...and you will know that I am the Lord" In the 2nd reading St Paul tells the Christinas in Rome that if they possess the spirit of Christ, they belong to Christ adding that if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, then he who raised Jesus from the dead will give life to your own mortal bodies through his Spirit living in you. In the gospel, when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, he could no longer fly under the radar. By raising Lazarus from the dead Jesus attracted the attention of his enemies and set himself on a path that ultimately led to the cross.  As followers of Christ, there are times when we will have to make a decisive and public choice for our faith or our values, in fact that is every single day of our lives. Standing up for the truth and what is right may bring praise or lead to misunderstanding or even persecution. We can draw strength in these decisive moments from the knowledge that the One we follow is the resurrection and the life. Any risk we take in following him is worth it in the end. "LORD, I BELIEVE": 4TH (LAETARE) SUNDAY OF LENT A 2026

This man became instantly unrecognisable. Even people who knew him started asking one another - Is this the same guy who...? Friends, when we open our lives for Jesus to touch us through his word and sacraments something happens to us - we are instantly recreated, renewed, transformed.  Brothers and sisters, we are remiinder in the 1st reading that whereas humans look at the outside God looks at the heart. A CALL TO LIVING WATER: 3rd Sunday of Lent Yr. A 2026

Send a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/224168/open_sms]  Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, the human body can survive for about 3 weeks without any food. Yet, we can live for only 3 days without water. We feel hungry when we need food. And we experience thirst without water. We also have a built-in psychological hunger and thirst. We want to possess things -We want to be in control of our lives. Some even want to control everything around them. And we all want to experience recognition and love. Unfortunately, most people are never satisfied with what they possess or have acquired. The reason is that they are missing what the human soul and spirit truly need. We need to possess God’s life and love – or we remain empty -- And until we learn to live and nourish ourselves on a spiritual level – we will always hunger and thirst for more of what this world has to offer! On this 3rd sunday of Lent we learn that but also that the way of sin complicates our lives but the way of the Lord simplifies it. May we have the courage to step away from the turmoil. LISTEN TO HIM - THE TRANSFIGURATION: 2nd Sunday of Lent Yr A

We have done nothing to deserve it all. It is all thanks to the love, grace and will of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. All we are called to do, is to respond with faith so that we can transformed to radiate that love and glory of God to others.  The Scriptures for this 2nd  sunday of Lent A remind us of this truth.  In the first reading Abram is called by God to respond in faith to God's instructions and informed that he will be blessed with greatness and in turn bless others. He had done nothing to deserve this. In the 2nd reading St Paul tells Timothy that part of the response to God's call is to endure suffering for the sake of the gospel, trusting not in our own power but that of God who has saved us. And in the gospel, Jesus is transfigured and commands his disciples not to tell anyone about what they had witnessed until after his resurrection.
