A place known to the locals as “the blasted heath”. The curious surveyor seeks answers from an elderly hermit who lives nearby. The horrifying story that follows begins with the night a meteor crashed into the Gardner family farm…carrying with it a hideous extraterrestrial presence, spreading madness and death. He races back to the Martense Mansion to end the mystery once and for all.   But are safety and sanity even possible…after the Lurking Fear’s true identity is finally revealed?   (Note: Due to potentially inflammatory language in the original story, very minor changes have been made to the dialogue).
