On the outskirts of the city of Arkham, a dam surveyor comes upon a very strange sight: a sprawling expanse of grey dust, with the ruined remnant of a house in the center. A place known to the locals as “the blasted heath”. The curious surveyor seeks answers from an elderly hermit who lives nearby. The horrifying story that follows begins with the night a meteor crashed into the Gardner family farm…carrying with it a hideous extraterrestrial presence, spreading madness and death. The Lurking Fear Chapter Four: The Horror in the Eyes

Two of the beasts that haunt Tempest Mountain are now dead, but how many remain?   As the narrator reflects on the nightmare he has endured, he suddenly realizes the significance of the countless mounds of earth that surround the mountain. He races back to the Martense Mansion to end the mystery once and for all.   But are safety and sanity even possible…after the Lurking Fear’s true identity is finally revealed?   (Note: Due to potentially inflammatory language in the original story, very minor changes have been made to the dialogue).
